Improving the lives of animals using law and policy

The Centre for Animal Welfare Policy is a UK-based law and policy organisation working to advance the protection of animals.

OUR MISSION

Our mission is to provide technical expertise to policymakers, Members of Parliament, and non-governmental organisations in their work to achieve real-world improvements in the treatment of animals. Together, we can ensure that the legislative recognition of animal sentience—and legal prohibitions on causing unnecessary suffering—are realised in practice.

OUR WORK

The Centre’s work supports efforts to ensure that all animals have a life worth living, and that as many animals as possible have a good life. Achieving these positive outcomes for animals requires effective use of legislation and policy—including primary legislation, secondary legislation, codes of practice, and government guidance.
